Having booked the £999 'A Grand Wedding' package, we couldn't recommend this venue any more highly.
Having initially booked back in the early part of the year, we became somewhat apprehensive as the the Old Manse underwent numerous management changes with the previous Managers showing little enthusiasm or interest in trying to help us put together our day. Alistair, the current Manager was brought in at the beginning of summer and brought a sense of stability to the place and also a huge amount of enthusiasm and energy into helping us plan in a relatively short space of time the most fantastic wedding reception we could have ever imagined.
The Hotel is situated in the most romantic of locations, right on the river bank in the centre of Bourton and the building itself, a lovely old English Inn full of character. Flexible (within reason) to tailor the wedding package to what suited us we were also able to add little extras for the most reasonable of prices - such as champagne for all guests on arrival and bacon sandwiches late on in the evening.
Having arrived at the reception at 4pm, we took advantage of the scenic location and had the most fantastic photos taken with my wife and I standing on the bridge to us both in Wellington Boots standing in the middle of the river with all of our guests on the bridge behind us.
We sat down for our 3 course meal which was of good sized portions and quality. The room couldn't hold many more than 50 people, however as the package offered is for up to 50 guests there is no issue with space and Alistair had been most helpful in advising us on the best way to have our tables positioned. We had arranged for a lot of decorations and seating covers etc to be brought in and setup. Again Alistair was most helpful and allowed us to have our room and also a seperate room in the hotel to store it all for no extra charge the previous day and also 50 banqueting chairs were brought in to help give the room that extra edge.
That morning, Alistair had lots of staff helping set the room up ready for the afternoon and believe me, they did not disappoint! It was stunning, and whilst we had arranged for a lot of the decoration, they certainly went all out in making the most fantastic displays and arrangements for us (thanks for all the helium balloons!).
The DJ brought in was great, and whilst the room was being cleared to make way for this, Ben the Assistant Manager surprised us and did the most amazing Fire Breathing display on the bridge over the river. It was quite something!! So the evening continued and everyone loved the DJ and were all up dancing. Come midnight when it finished my wife and I stayed in the Windrush Room which overlooks the river and has the most comfy four poster bed.
I could go on and on about how great it was however in summary:
The most amazing value package, for the most amazing venue, for the most enthusiastic team working to make your day that extra bit special (in particular Alistair, Vicky (Alistair's wife) and Ben although all staff were absolutely fantastic.
I urge anyone who is planning their wedding reception to book, you will not be disappointed. I will also ensure the hotel has copies of some of the photos so if you are still not sure, ask to have a look!!
